Secret beach house is inside a box truck
🚐 Custom Box Truck Build:
Scott transformed a 2008 GMC Isuzu Box Truck into a fully off-grid beach house on wheels. This truck, designed to be self-contained, includes a raised floor with hidden storage, a large bathroom, and a unique air conditioning system. The entire build cost approximately $65,000, including the truck and modifications.
🌞 Off-Grid Power System:
The truck is equipped with six lithium batteries and 1,600 watts of solar panels, allowing it to run entirely on solar power without ever needing to be plugged into an outlet. The system powers all the amenities, including two air conditioners, a washing machine, and a 50-inch television.
🛠️ Innovative Features:
The truck features a hydraulic lift for transporting a motorcycle, underfloor storage to avoid overhead cabinets, and a full-size shower with a marine toilet that doesn’t produce odors. The design also includes a 7-foot L-shaped couch, a large double bed that can extend for extra space, and a hidden pantry in the floor.
🏖️ Beach Lifestyle:
The build was motivated by Scott’s desire to live close to the beach where he has surfed for 50 years. The truck’s compact size allows him to park near his favorite spots, and the design accommodates both his solo lifestyle and occasional visits from family and friends.
💡 Building Philosophy:
Scott aimed for simplicity and functionality, focusing on creating a comfortable living space without the clutter of overhead storage. His approach to the build was influenced by his previous experience with RVs and boats, ensuring that the truck could handle the weight and provide a reliable off-grid experience.、
